LingoScroll Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
LingoScroll helps you learn Korean through short scenes. This policy says what information the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- LingoScroll has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- To make the app better, it sends us information about how it's used, linked to a random ID made when you install it.
- We never sell your information, never use it for ads, and share it with no one except PostHog, the service that stores it for us.
- LingoScroll has no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
What the app collects
- Your answers. The questions you answer when you start: why you're learning, what you like to watch, your goals, your level, your age range, your gender (or "rather not say"), how you heard about LingoScroll, what's been hard, how much time you have, and when you'd like a reminder.
- How you use the app. The screens you see, the buttons and lines you tap, the scenes you play, finish, skip or like, your text settings and your reminder settings.
- Screen recordings. Recordings of the app's own screens while you use it, showing what the app showed and where you tapped. The app has no places to type, and iPhone screens that aren't the app's (like Apple's purchase sheet) aren't recorded.
- Your subscription. Which plan you chose, your free trial, renewals, cancellations and refunds. Apple tells us these with the random ID the app gives your purchase. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.
- Your device and the app. The iPhone model, screen size, iOS version, app version, language, region and time zone, whether you're on Wi-Fi or mobile data, whether sound plays through the speaker or headphones and how loud, whether notifications are on, crashes and errors, and how fast the app starts.
- Approximate location. Your city and country, worked out from your internet (IP) address. Never your precise location.
All of this is linked to the app's random ID for your install, not to your name or Apple Account.
Why
To see what works and what doesn't: which scenes people enjoy, where they get stuck, what to make next, and how the subscription is doing. And to find and fix bugs and crashes. Your answers also pick your scenes, but that happens on your phone.
Who handles it
The information is sent to and stored by PostHog, Inc., our analytics service, on servers in the United States. PostHog processes it only for us. Apple handles purchases and subscriptions. We don't share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Screen recordings are kept for 90 days. Everything else is kept for up to 7 years, or until you ask us to delete it.
Your choices
- See or delete your data. Use Contact us in the app (the person button on a scene). The email it starts includes your app's ID, which is how we find your data. Ask us, and we'll send you what we have or delete it.
- Reminders. If you turn on reminders, they're scheduled on your phone. You can turn them off in the app's profile or in your iPhone's Settings.
If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom: we use this information because we have a legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
LingoScroll isn't meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date.
